The BAND DATA connector pins can be used for QSK keying of Alpha 87A, 89, 99, and 91B amps. Pin 2 (+ Keying) goes to center of RCA connector that plugs into RELAY jack on amp. Pins 3 (Gnd) and 8 are connected to Gnd (shield of cable to amp). Turn LIN SW off to disable internal amp keying relay (refer to your radio manual for exact instructions for your model). Connect cable to RELAY jack of Alpha amplifier.

An assembled cable is available from Alpha/Power for $69.00 (plus S&H).

BAND DATA connector pin numbers: With the opening between pins or "key" at the bottom VIEWED FROM THE SOLDER SIDE of the connector, pin 7 is at 7 o'clock then moving clockwise, the order continues as 1 4 2 5 3 8 with 6 in the center. Pin 8 is at 5 o'clock. (Thanks to WB6RSE for pinout description)

QSK amplifier keying for Yaesu FT-990

The FT-990 uses the REMOTE connector for QSK amp keying, the DIN plug is not the same type used for the FT-1000 amps and different pins are used to key the amp.
