Think Twice before Replacing your Tubes
Your new Alpha amplifier is delivered with matched and warranted tubes. If you replace those tubes with others during the warranty period, Alpha Radio Products is not responsible for any damage caused by those tubes and the damage will not be covered under warranty.
The 4CX800 (gu74b) tubes used in the Alpha 99 and Alpha 91ß are freely available on the Internet, however, most often not as a matched set and not with a warranty. Purchasing non-warranted (i.e. non-tested) tubes from anywhere and putting them in your amplifier exposes you to a risk of catastrophic failure – we’ve seen it happen to customers and it happens to us occasionally as part of our testing and warranty procedure for tubes
The Alpha 87A, 89 and 86 were designed to use the YC-238 tube which is an Eimac 3CX800A7 that has been screened for low grid current. Replacing one or both of the tubes in your amplifier with a regular 3CX800 or with a 3CPX800 could lead to unintended problems and consequences which again we are not able to cover under warranty.
