Over a weekend in October 2006 our CTO and lead engineer, Gordon Hardman W0RUN, was testing the prototype Alpha 9500. That happened to be the weekend of the 2006 CQ World-Wide DX Contest, seeing this as a great opportunity to put the prototype to the test Gordon got on the air. 
The competition was a great chance to work out some of the development issues in the 9500 and Gordon enjoyed putting the prototype through the paces. He mailed in his logs assuming he’d finish somewhere in the middle of the pack. It wasn’t until he received this certificate in the mail that he realized he had won the Single Operator High Power 14 MHZ SSB division.
